If there is a magic formula to have an amazing final paint result, it would be good preparation before starting to paint. This is because if you do not follow the right steps, the end result may not be as satisfactory as you wish.
In this article, we will tell you how to prepare for the painting process step-by-step, to have a professional final result.
1.Good Planning.
Before preparing the place you want to paint, write down the steps that you need to follow on a piece of paper. Afterwards, put a mark on every step you complete, while taking into consideration the problems you may face and their solutions. Taking 10 minutes to make good planning helps you from wasting a lot of time in case something goes wrong.
Remember, no job is perfect, but you can reduce errors to the minimum, and this article will help you to do that.
2.Covering Floor and Furniture.
It is preferably better if you make the room empty without any accessories or furniture, but if it is difficult for you to move the furniture out of the room, just wrap the furniture and accessories with plastic sheeting and secure it tightly with masking tape. DO NOT ignore this step! It saves all your belongings from paint stains that may be difficult to remove. You can buy the plastic sheeting.
Wrapping process does not apply to the furniture only, but to the floor as well, especially if the floor is furnished with moquette. However, if there is a carpet in the room, it is better to move it outside, as it is difficult to predict where paint may stain even if the floor is covered securely. The last step here is covering the edges of the ceiling, doors, windows, or even the corners of the adjacent walls, if you are painting one wall only, using masking tape. This is to protect them from being splotched with paint and to achieve a clean and professional final result.
Note:
It is better to use a brush rather than a roller to paint the wall edges, corners, around the electrical sockets, windows, and doors for a more fine-tuned result.
3.Removing Electric Sockets.
After wrapping the furniture and all areas that may be exposed to paint, here comes the next step which is to remove the electrical sockets from the wall, so that wall painting will be easier and with a fantastic final result.
There are some types of electric sockets that cannot be removed unless the electrical wires are disconnected from the inside. If you do not have enough background in electricity maintenance, it is advised not to remove them so as not to cause you other problems.
So what is the most appropriate solution in this case?
You can cover the sockets completely with masking tape.
4.Fixing Wall Problems.
Fixing wall problems is one of the most crucial steps to take before starting to paint. Indeed, there are many problems walls are exposed to. The most common issues include wall moisture, hairline cracks, and nail holes.

5. Surface Cleaning.
You need to clean the wall and remove any impurities before you start painting. If you skip this step, the paint may not stick well on the wall. All you need to do is to wipe the wall with a completely dry cloth to remove any impurities.
If there is an oil stain on the wall, you must clean it well until it is totally removed. You can use either ordinary detergents or chemical cleaning detergents.
